There has been much heated debate recently about voip phone service: its pros, its cons, and its relative advantage when compared to traditional telephony. A lot of things have been said, and some groundless accusations have been leveled (by both sides, mind you). Add to that the already persistent shroud of mystery surrounding voip phone services and it's hard to separate fiction from reality. With that in mind, I'd like to take a moment to set the record straight on a few points.

Myth: Voip phone service is only for big businesses with thousands of employees.
Fact: Although it is true that large corporations are drawn to the many obvious advantages of voip phone service, small businesses, too, can benefit from a well implemented system, and it has become an increasingly common choice.

Myth: New technologies like voip phone service are dangerous and unreliable.
Fact: While some new advances are in fact dangerous, the 2004-2005 calendar year saw zero voip phone service related fatalities. Compare that to the number of yearly fatalities in a relatively old-fashioned industry, say, coal mining, and it becomes clear that it is in fact old technologies that are dangerous, not new ones.

Myth: My traditional home/office phone service satisfies the current needs of my household/company just fine.
Fact: Untrue. While many Americans still believe this to be the case, the truth is that they could be enjoying a much more versatile and affordably priced communications experience with the right voip phone service.

Myth: Using voip phone service requires the pricey and time-consuming installation of lots of fancy-new hardware, and once operational it requires a team of highly skilled experts for upkeep.
Fact: In many cases, voip phone service can operate on your existing home/office networking equipment. Additionally, most voip phone service providers furnish all the necessary technical expertise. No special knowledge is necessary! All you need to know is how to operate a seemingly normal phone, something a even well-trained circus monkey or a particularly bright chimpanzee can do. You're not dumber than a monkey, are you?

Myth: The amount of money saved by using voip phone service is so great that you will become rich as a king.
Fact: While voip phone service will certainly save you money and streamline your business, it is unlikely that it alone will make you much richer than, say, a local magistrate, or hedge-baron at best.
